COVID-19 Restrictions Lifted

The Session’s COVID-19 Management Team has decided, given the dramatic improvement in the health situation in Douglas County, to relax our restrictions, effective immediately (February 23).
We will no longer request that everyone wear a mask. Those who feel more comfortable wearing a mask will be encouraged to do so. This applies to meetings and to worship.
Food and beverage events will be permitted, including Sunday coffee hour as soon as the hosts are prepared to resume doing it.
Note: We will continue to monitor the situation. If there is a resurgence (after all, there are several letters of the Greek alphabet left!) we may need to reimpose restrictions.

Scam Alert!

If you ever have a request from me that you suspect may be legitimate, call or text me to verify it before you spend any money.

This has now happened to two of our church members.

Seeking the Intercultural Church

Lent Study this year will be “Seeking the Intercultural Church.” We will look at Scripture and experience to consider the challenges and hopes of being a multicultural church.

The study is from the Thoughtful Christian. Each week there will be a handout which I will make available on our website and our Facebook Family & Friends group. I will also have print copies available for those who come in person.

This will be a hybrid event Wednesday evenings at 7:00. Those coming in person will meet in the Library; those joining remotely will use Zoom.

We begin Wednesday, March 9 and meet every Wednesday through April 13. Don’t worry if you have to miss a session; read the handout and you’ll keep up pretty well!

Contact me if you have any questions.

PCM Voice Is Available Electronically

This month is the first issue of the PCM Voice that is being rolled out electronically to all members via our One Church congregational software. Some members may still receive a paper copy in the mail as well. Next month’s issue will be completely digital for the majority of our members.

Please note: The deadline to have items to our administrator, Becky, for the March issue of The Voice has been moved to February 7th in preparation for her maternity leave.

Books Available

Friends, I set up a table in the Commons (near the Chapel) and am putting books on it for the taking. Some have been culled from the Church Library by Linda Wendel, others are from my personal/professional library. Look at them and take anything that interests you. After a couple of weeks, I’ll dispose of them.
Watch for more books to be placed there every so often over the next few months.

Sermon on the Mount Study

Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount is one of the best-known portions of the New Testament. It has inspired Christians for millennia and also was influential in the thinking of the Mahatma Gandhi.

Our Saturday morning Bible group will begin to study the Sermon on the Mount on Saturday, January 8. Bible Study is 10:00-11:30. In reality, we tend to gather, visit, and catch up from 10:00 to 10:30 and pray and begin to study around 10:30.

This is a hybrid study: you can join us in person in the church library if you are vaccinated, in good health, and comfortable in such a setting. Or join us via Zoom using the link below.

Contact Pastor Bob if you have any questions.

Help Us Support The 2022 Per-Capita Fund

To support the work around the world of the Presbyterian Church U.S.A., congregations all across the country are asked to make a financial contribution to this effort. Approximately $40 per member is paid by churches to the national church. To lessen this impact on PCM’s budget, members are asked to make a special contribution specifically to the per-capita fund. Please consider donating $40 per church member in your household. An online contribution form is provided below.

Adult Education: December 29

Time to finish our Year of the Bible! Our last Wednesday evening Zoom conversation (December 29, 7:00 pm) will consider Zechariah, Malachi, Psalms 146-150, and Revelation 17-22.

I have been blessed by these weekly chats with you. Thank you for doing this with me!
