I came to PCM when I was 9. It was 1970. I grew up in this church. I married my wife and raised my children in this church. I have shared my talents in ways both visible and not. When I first came to PCM this church building was a small brick building, surrounded by corn fields on all sides, the lane leading up the hill between the corn stalks like a maze until the building came into view.
I have witnessed the congregation, and the building grow in stages over the years, to the beautiful space that is today.
I have witnessed God worshipped in this place, with both sincerity and creativity. I have heard the life-giving love of Jesus Christ preached over the years, enriching my life, both spiritually and practically.
I have watched enquirers come through these doors, work and worship among us, taking with them the salvation of God out into the world beyond these walls.
Some theologians speak of โthin placesโ, where God is more personally felt than in other places. For me, this building, this worship space, is a thin space. A space where I experience Godโs presence in the air, in the Sanctuary, and in the people around me with whom I worship.
Lisa and I choose to give as generously as we can the Capitol Campaign, so that others can experience this unique thin space, too. I hope others will also choose to give as generously as they can, joining me in continuing Christโs ministry and the sharing of Godโs salvation for all who thirst for Godโs love, now, and into the future.
