I joined PCM along with my wife Barbara in 1971. I was recently out of the army and Barb and I had bought a new house in Maple Village. The pastor at Barb’s parents church, Olive Crest United Methodist, and where Barb and I sometimes attended, told us that there was a relatively new Presbyterian Church (PCM) with an up and coming pastor that we should check out. So we did, and it was love at first sight. This church not only gave us spiritual food, but also social food. Over the years I sang in the choir and Barb played the bells, we went to Mariners meetings, and we both greatly enjoyed the couples bridge group. I also played on our men’s church sports teams (soft ball and basket ball) in a city wide church league. Additionally our church had its own coed volleyball program in which Barb and I both played. The church was vibrant and growing and it became obvious that we needed a bigger facility.

Over the years we added more class room space, a new sanctuary, and more office space for additional staff. The original worship area was converted into a fellowship hall and then later upgraded with a big new kitchen. The original loan to build the church (now the fellowship hall) was eventually paid off, but all the new construction required new loans to finance it. We’re still working on it.

When Barb and I moved to the Papillion area we considered transferring to a closer church, but finally decided that all our friendships we had at PCM were just to much to give up, so we stayed. I have never regretted that decision. When Barb passed in 2012 this church was there for me big time for which I am eternally grateful. Personally, I will never leave. I love this church and all that it stands for. It is my hope that this church will extend far into the future and impact others lives the way it has impacted mine. The history of this church is noble, the present is difficult in todays society, but the future is full of promise and hope if we can persevere and keep the faith.
