Volunteer To Help The Church With Building & Grounds

Are you getting a little stir crazy at home and looking for a way to serve the church? The Building and Grounds Committee wants your help. With the current health crisis, we were forced to cancel the annual Spring Work Day. However, we still have work that needs to be performed at the church.

If you haven’t been to PCM for the past few months, what better way to visit your church and help maintain the place then by volunteering to take on a task(s). Weekdays, weekends or evenings, we have a variety of things to be done that can be tackled on your time schedule and at your pace. Plus, you can maintain plenty of social distancing to avoid any health risks.

If you have any interest, please use the following form to express your willingness. A member of the committee will be in contact to provide you details and help you get started if needed.

On behalf of the Buildings & Grounds Committee, thank you for considering assisting the church.

Attention PCM Golf League Members

Hey everyone, are you ready to golf? Time to get started, but we need to hear from everyone first. Please read to the bottom and allow me to explain.

The City of Omaha is bringing golf carts back to Swigart. That’s great. However, the “one rider” rule is being strictly enforced (even for same household). Unfortunately there is no time estimate on when it will change. As a result, this means there will still be some limitations on carts for the foreseeable future. Plus, the City is not allowing cart reservations. We recognize carts are a “must-have” for some of you for various reasons.

Second, the Covid-19 cases are still growing in number in our area and despite social distancing, many people still may have concerns about interacting with people. We totally understand.
Our plan is to start the PCM Golf League on Wednesday, May 27. However, the world has changed since you signed-up for golf. Before we can finalize the teams and create a schedule, we need to hear from each golfer individually (unless you live in the same household). Based on the current circumstances we’re facing, please respond if you’re “in” or “out” by Monday, May 18. We totally understand if you need to drop out.

Please confirm with Brenda or myself by Monday, May 18 your intention to play or not. Do not respond for your partner unless you live in the same household. You can respond by emailing Bill. Click here to send an email.

We will circulate some further information regarding golf course rules shortly, but wanted to get the ball rolling. We also probably won’t do a mailing this year and will rely on this forum or handing out at the course the first night.

Finally, this whole situation is some-what fluid. If you don’t feel you can golf right now, we can figure a way to add golfers as the season goes if things change.
Thanks to everyone for your patience and we look forward to hearing from you.

Murphy Speaks About Staying Home

Murphy the Dog has created his first YouTube video. In this episode, Murphy talks to children about how weird it is staying at home and not seeing friends due to the Covid-19 virus outbreak. He assures them that everything will be okay.

Murphy the Dog is a member of the ACE Puppet Troupe at Presbyterian Church of the Master where he lives with Pastor Bob at the church. He is a frequent speaker on a variety of subjects at church services, especially speaking to the children.

Throwback Thursday 3/12/2020

The latest in the Throwback Thursday series.

Last year St. Patrick’s Day was on a Sunday and the ACE Puppet Troupe members forgo the puppets and took to the stage themselves for a Worship service message.

Throwback Thursday #tbt

This week instead of photos from this same time last year, I’m showing some photos where I was attempting to take them from the perspective of sitting in back row. I tried to use the people in front of me to frame or add depth to the image. Okay, I was trying to get “artsy.”
You be the judge of whether it worked or not.

Throwback Thursday 2/27/2020

My original intention was to only post photos as Throwback Thursday as a preview to the display at church. However, now that the display is on the wall, a few people have encouraged me to keep posting on Thursdays and show some of the images that didn’t make the cut for display. So, for the time being I’ll keep going.

These three photos are from the first weekend of March last year when Pastor Dan Graham was leading services. I always thought the first two would be great for a caption contest. Something like, “look into my eyes you’re getting sleepier,” and “the yellow-breasted warbler sounds like this.”

Time For The Summer Golf League

Welcome to the PCM Summer Golf League. It’s fifteen weeks of fun and fellowship, plus a chance to get a little exercise. Beginning May 6, we play at nearby Warren Swigart Golf Course which is a par-3 course.

2019 League Champion Eric Bremers
2019 League Champion Janet Bremers

The league is comprised of two/three person teams (i.e. you and partners). Each week two members of your team will play against another team. Since we utilize a handicap system, everyone regardless of skill competes on an even level. While scores are kept and a league winner is determined, the league is not overly competitive and the focus is on fellowship.

After golf each week many members of the league keep the fellowship rolling by stopping for dinner. We predetermine the location(s) and rotate through area food establishments.

New golfers are welcome to the league. If you have a partner(s), please indicate on the online sign-up sheet. If you’re signing up as an individual, we will attempt our best to pair you with someone. FYI, if you are a newcomer to the league/PCM, your partner does not have to be a member of the church.

The cost is weekly green fees, plus a one-time $10 league fee. For golfers under 55, the season total is $182.50 ($11.50 green fee x 15 weeks + $10 league fee). For Seniors (55+), the season total is $152.50 ($9.50 x 15 weeks + $10 league fee). Cart rental is extra and is handled directly with the course.

To sign-up, complete the online form below. For more information or questions, contact Bill Norton  at (402) 658-1687  or click here to email.

Throwback Thursday 2/20/2020

The final week of our Throwback Thursday series.

Taken about a year ago, this image is one of my favorites that didn’t get included in the final photo display. I know she’s missed by all her knew her, but the choir holds a special place in their hearts for our dearly departed friend Nancy.
